On Friday, Adam Boehler, the Chief Executive Officer of U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), a newly established development financier stated, it is eyeing multi-billion dollar investments in Indonesia in the next two months.
Luhut Pandjaitan, Indonesia’s coordinating minister for maritime affairs and investment stated, he and Boehler had discussed possible deals by the DFC in the energy and infrastructure sectors, including the laying of roads.
While Boehler did not elaborate on the agency’s plans for Indonesia, he however said, DFC would shortlist certain projects over the next couple of months where the investment would “lead into tens of billions”.
With a budget of $60 billion, the DFC, launched last month, is seen by analysts as an attempt by the U.S government’s to provide an alternative to Beijing’s Belt and Road initiative (BRI) program.
