Lockheed Martin expects weapon sales jump beyond Ukraine Russia theatre: CEO

US weapons giant Lockheed Martin Corp plans on doubling the production of Javelin missiles, said its Chief Executive Officer James Taiclet.

Lockheed Martin aims to boost the production of the anti tank weapon system from 2,100 to 4,000 per year in a couple of years, said Taiclet.

Last week, U.S. President Joe Biden had visited a Lockheed facility in Alabama that manufactures the Javelin missiles in an effort to press the US Congress to approve a $33 billion assistance package for Ukraine.

“We can start turning up the heat now and ramping up production immediately,” said Taiclet while noting that Lockheed Martin is anticipating increased demand for “superior systems in large enough numbers”.

“We’re planning for the long run and not just in the Javelin,” said Taiclet while noting, he expects the demand for weapons sales to increase beyond just the Ukraine war theatre citing threats to Taiwan from China.
