According to sources familiar with the matter at hand, Thoma Bravo LP, a buyout firm, has approached Twitter Inc to express its interest in forming a team to acquire it.
The development comes in the wake of Elon Musk making a $43 billion bid to purchase the company.
As of the end of December 2021, private equity firm Thoma Bravo, had more than $103 billion in assets under management. It has informed Twitter that it is exploring the possibility of putting together a bid, said sources.
So far, it is not clear as to how much Thoma Bravo is prepared to offer; sources have cautioned that there is no certainty that a rival bid will materialize.
A spokesperson for Thoma Bravo declined comment. Twitter’s representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comments.
