On Friday, in a statement Polish Climate Minister said, Poland will provide an additional $380 million (1.5 billion zlotys) subsidies to consumers following a hike in energy prices.
Benchmark European gas prices have risen sharply following tightening of gas supplies following high demand midst a recovery of economies from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This is a matter that is a priority for me and the solutions we are proposing are valued at 1.5 billion zlotys. We will cover 2.6 million households,” said Climate Minister Michal Kurtyka.
The Polish government aims to support the most economically challenged households. In a year, this could come to 700 zlotys for a household of four, said Kurtyka.
