On Tuesday, Australia Prime Minister Scott Morrison saod, trade talks with the European Union will be worked through in “the weeks and months ahead”.
His comments come at a time when he is dealing with the fallout of the decision to cancel a $40 billion submarine deal with France.
“It’s not an easy thing to do, to get an agreement with the European Union on trade, I think everyone understands that,” said Morrison after reaching the US for a meeting of the leaders of the Quad group.
Last week, Australia cancelled its order of a fleet of conventional submarines from France, saying it would instead build eight nuclear-powered submarines with Britain and the United States prompting a recall of envoys by France from Australia and the U.S.
