China launches anti-subsidy probe into U.S. import of glycol ethers

On Monday, in a development that will further escalate U.S.-China tensions, China’s commerce ministry stated, it has launched an anti-subsidy probe into some glycol ethers imports from the U.S. starting from September 14.

The development comes in the wake of China launching an anti-dumping probe in late August into the import of the same product from the United States.

Both probes comes after China’s domestic glycol ethers industry, including Jiangsu Yida Chemical Co and two of its units, called for an investigation, said China’s Ministry of Commerce.

The chemical is widely used in areas including automobile brake fluid and de-icing products for aircraft fuel.
