German state authorities expand VW’s diesel emission scandal scrutiny with market manipulation angle

Authorities have already raided 13 offices in VW’s headquarters and have seized documents and electronic files from its computers.

WirtschaftsWoche, a German Magazine has reported citing a spokesman from the state prosecutors office as saying, they have started fresh enquiries into suspicions of market manipulation at Volkswagen, as part of the diesel emission scandal.

According to the spokesman, German authorities, in Braunschweig, have searched 13 offices in the Volkswagen headquarters in the beginning of March and have seized computer files and documents.

According to German authorities, they are verifying a statement issued by Volkswagen on December 9, 2015 over suspicions that its contents were not correct and are probing the market manipulation angle in the diesel emission case.
