Ramping up its charges against Apple, Qualcomm has filed a civil lawsuit and two civil patent infringement lawsuits against Apple.
Escalating its complaint against Apple, Qualcomm Inc has filed three three new patent infringement complaints against Apple Inc saying 16 more of its patents have been violated by Apple in its flagship smartphone – the iPhone.
These new complaints represent the latest infringement related complaints in a long-standing dispute and follows Apple’s countersuit on Wednesday against Qualcomm’s Snapdragon mobile phone chips saying those infringed on its patents.
Apple declined to comment on the new cases.
The three new cases were filed on Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California in San Diego.
As part of this complaint is a companion civil lawsuit that has been filed by Qualcomm on Thursday with the ITC which seeks to ban Intel chips in iPhones. The remaining two cases relate to civil patent infringement lawsuits.
Qualcomm is also facing a lawsuit from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission over many of the same practices it uses and has accused Apple of using in its complaints.
