BMW will relaunch the revamped i3 in 2017.
German weekly, Welt am Sonntag has reported citing sources within the company who are familiar with the matter at hand, BMW plans on launching a new version of its i3 electric car in 2017.
The newer version will sport a revamped design and have longer range. Its front and rear end will be reworked and its mile range will be substantially more than the current 300km. Welt am Sonntag has reported that the increase will be below 50%.
Having already delivered 25,000 i3s in 2015, BMW has been pulled two ways with regard to whether it should accelerate the development of new electric cars or build on its existing platform. Its early expensive investment in this technology has however resulted lacklustre sales.
In order to push up sales, BMW has already hiked the battery range of its i3 by 50% this year.
