Russia Issues A Warning That A “Direct Military Clash” Between Nuclear Powers Is Imminent

Russia has issued a warning, stating that there is an increasing chance of a “direct military clash” between Russia and Western nuclear powers.

“Westerners are perilously poised on the precipice of an immediate military conflict between nuclear powers, rife with disastrous outcomes,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned the attendees of the Moscow Nonproliferation Conference via video.

Following Russia’s violent reaction to the US House of Representatives’ approval of a $61 billion foreign aid package for Kyiv over the weekend, the remarks were made.

Hardline Republicans have long opposed the help, but House legislators approved it on Saturday. The proposal now moves to the Democratic-majority Senate, which is anticipated to approve it later this week before President Joe Biden signs it and makes it a law.

Due to a lack of supplies, Ukraine’s forces in the east have been forced to limit how many shells they can use. As Russian forces advance into the Donbas region, Ukraine is pleading for more air defence systems, artillery, and ammunition in order to turn the tide of the conflict.

The bill approved by the House “will keep the war from expanding, save thousands and thousands of lives, and help both of our nations to become stronger,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a thank-you note to American lawmakers. He pushed for the bill’s swift passage in the Senate.

According to a local authority, a Russian air strike on Kharkiv, the second-biggest city in Ukraine, damaged TV broadcast infrastructure, causing signal delays.

“At the moment, there are interruptions in the digital TV signal,” regional governor Oleh Syniehubov said.

He said there were no casualties.
