The Second Amazon Prime Day Sale Will Happen On October 11 And 12

For the first time ever, Amazon will host two Prime Day-like deal bonanzas in one calendar year, which will happen next month.

The “Prime Early Access Sale,” as the event is being dubbed by the company, will happen from October 11 to 12, it was announced on Monday. According to Jamil Ghani, vice president of Prime, the event will offer “hundreds of thousands” of holiday deals and will only be accessible to subscribers to Amazon’s Prime service.

Previous reports claim that in June, Amazon started contacting sellers about the occasion.

Prime Day, which debuted in 2015, is usually celebrated once every summer. However, as the Covid-19 pandemic strained its operations in 2020 and 2021, Amazon changed the event’s timing.

The business has also experimented with other sale occasions, including an apparel sale, a pet-related event, and a fall beauty occasion.

Ghani opted not to comment on whether Amazon intends to hold additional sales events for Prime members in the future.

By scheduling a deal event for October, Amazon is taking advantage of a recent trend that has gained traction. Because more sales are occurring online, major retailers have begun announcing promotions well in advance of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

With e-commerce sales slowing and a host of economic challenges, such as a potential recession, skyrocketing inflation, rising interest rates, and the excessive expansion it undertook during the pandemic, the new sales event could help Amazon jumpstart holiday shopping early.

According to a Bain & Co. forecast, holiday sales are anticipated to increase from the previous year, but a large portion of the growth will probably be attributed to higher prices. Due to the pressure on their wallets, shoppers will likely be looking for discounts more frequently than usual.

“These days, it’s not lost on you or me that folks are trying to make their dollar stretch,” Ghani said.
