FTC scrutinizing Broadcom over forcing exclusive agreements on clients

As per a report from The Information, Broadcom Inc has come under scrutiny from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) following complaints that it is forcing exclusive agreements with customers.

As per the report, the FTC is in the early stages of gathering information on whether Broadcom, is illegally forced customers to enter into exclusive agreements. Broadcom is allegedly using the supply-chain crisis to justify its demands from customers, said the report citing sources familiar with the knowledge of the situation.

The FTC declined comment.

Broadcom did not immediately respond to requests for comments. In July 2021, the FTC had filed a proposed order to settle antitrust charges against the company. The consent order required Broadcom to stop demanding that its customers buy components mostly or only from Broadcom.
