US assets of Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich frozen: WSJ

As per a report from the Wall Street Journal, a few U.S. hedge-funds which have investments from Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich have been told to freeze his assets after Britain imposed sanctions on him.

Britain has frozen his assets and have imposed a travel ban on him along with six other senior Russians citing their links to Russian President Vladimir Putin after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

In a message, fund administrator SS&C Globe Op said, accounts attributed to Abramovich are blocked from transacting. SS&C is monitoring the situation for guidance from the U.K. Treasury, the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority and the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation.

SS&C did not immediately respond to requests for comments.
