In an interview with Germany industry magazine Automobilwoche the sales chief of luxury carmaker Porsche AG said, he expects another record year in terms of sales despite the global shortage of semiconductors.
“When I look at the current orders, I’m confident for 2022. Growth in sales could reach a similarly high level this year as in 2021,” said Detlev von Platen in an interview.
In 2021, sales at Porsche, which is part of the Volkswagen group of companies, rose by 11% to 301,915; Porsche expects to reach more than 335,000 this year if sales continue to grow at the current pace.
Van Platen also said, Porsche wants to hire 400 more workers.
Currently, the carmaker has a workforce of nearly 40,000 employees.
Higher demand for its cars has lead to longer delivery times, said Van Platen.
“Wait times can last several months, in some cases up to a year,” said von Platen.
