In a statement on Monday, the Russian Defense Ministry said, the Northern Fleet has completed anti-submarine drills in the Norwegian Sea, as part of a broader naval exercise midst a stand-off with NATO and the United States.
Russian military exercises are being closely watched by the West since it comes at a time when there is a Russian troop build-up near its border with Ukraine, which has sparked fears of a conflict.
Russia has denied plans to launch an attack on Ukraine.
In a statement the Russian Defense Ministry said, a Russian missile cruiser and a frigate aided by a specially equipped helicopter practiced various manoeuvres for locating submarines during the drills.
The Russian military exercise involved more than 140 vessels from all of its fleets in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and the North, Okhotsk and Mediterranean seas.
