According to two sources close to the matter at hand, Frank Appel, CEO of Deutsche Post is the favorite to become the next supervisory board chairman of Deutsche Telekom.

Both sources have confirmed that Deutsche Post’s supervisory board is scheduled to meet on Wednesday; Deutsche Telekom’s board will meet a week later to discuss the matter.

Ulrich Lehner’s term, who currently chairs Telekom’s supervisory body, will end at next year’s shareholder meeting.

The German government has stakes in both companies.
