France, Germany, Ukraine and Russia agree to foreign minister meeting to resolve conflict in Ukraine

In a statement the German Government said, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have had phone calls with their equivalent in Russia and Ukraine and discussed the conflict in Ukraine.

All four leaders agreed that their foreign ministers should meet.

Macron and Merkel spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on the implementation of the Minsk Agreements aimed at bringing about a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.

Macron and Merkel also spoke with Putin, urging him to make progress on peace talks.

Ukraine is at war with Moscow-backed separatists.
