Football Association needs independent oversight: British ministers

Following security failings at Wembley along with the disorder at the Euro 2020 final between England and Italy, British ministers have called for independent oversight of Football Association (FA).

The final match, won by Italy in a penalty shootout, was marred by clashes between fans and officials in and around the stadium.

As a result of the violent clashes, the Met Police urged fans not to travel to Wembley if they did not have a ticket.

Several fans however breached security cordons and charged into the perimeter area of Wembley before kickoff on July 11.
