In a statement on Friday, PayPal Holdings Inc said, from April 1, 2021, it will close down its domestic payments business in India.
It will continue to focus on its cross-border payments business, which enables global customers to pay Indian merchants using its service.
“From 1 April 2021, we will focus all our attention on enabling more international sales for Indian businesses, and shift focus away from our domestic products in India,” said PayPal in a statement, “This means we will no longer offer domestic payment services within India from 1 April.”
Many online apps, including travel and ticket services such as MakeMy Trip, food delivery app Swiggy or film booking app BookMyShow had PayPal as their payments options.
