On Friday Mitsubishi Motors Corp said its chairman Osamu Masuko has resigned due to health reasons and has handed over the role of the chairman to CEO Takao Kato as a temporary measure.
Masuko, a veteran of the Mitsubishi conglomerate, had joined the automaker in 2004 and became its president in 2007. In 2016, he oversaw the partnership between Mitsubishi and Nissan Motor Co wherein the latter took a controlling stake in the company.
In a statement Mitsubishi said, Masuko, 71, would remain as a special adviser while not disclosing the nature of the health reason for which Masuko resigned.
