In a significant development, The Times reported that the United Kingdom is pursuing a strategy of allying itself with at least 10 democracies, in order to create an alternative pools of suppliers of 5G equipment and other technologies so as to less dependent on China.
To this end, the British government has approached the United States about a “D10” club of democratic partners, based on G7 plus India, Australia, and South Korea, said The Times.
The development comes in the wake of another report from the Daily Telegraph which said, Prime Minister Boris Johnson plans on limiting Huawei Technologies Co Ltd’s involvement in Britain’s 5G network.
