Hyatt Hotels Corp to restructure and lay off 1,300 employees from June 1, 2020

Late on Monday, Hyatt Hotels Corp stated, as it restructures roles within its global operations, it would be laying off around 1,300 employees.

The development comes midst a virtual halt in global travel as cities across the globe go into lockdown to curb the spread of the coronavirus which started in Wuhan, China.

“Due to the historic drop in travel demand and the expected slow pace of recovery, Hyatt has made the extremely difficult decision to implement layoffs and restructure roles across its global corporate functions, beginning June 1, 2020,” said Hyatt in a statement.
