UK eases competition law to allow supermarkets to cooperate and coordinate during Wuhan coronavirus outbreak

Britain will relax competition laws in order to allow co-operation between supermarkets so that shoppers can get access to the food they need during the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak.

“We’ve listened to the powerful arguments of our leading supermarkets and will do whatever it takes to help them feed the nation,” said environment minister George Eustice in a statement.

“By relaxing elements of competition laws temporarily, our retailers can work together on their contingency plans and share the resources they need with each other during these unprecedented circumstances.”
