U.S. to impose 10% additional tariffs on $300 billion Chinese goods

The move underscores Trump’s intent to not incentives Chinese strategy of tiring opponents through unproductive never ending negotiations.

U.S. President Donald Trump made it lucidly clear to Chinese President Xi Jinping that the United States will not backdown from China’s aggressive economic policies. It will resolutely stand fast and will continue its economic policies to tax China until a trade deal can be reached.

Trump made it amply clear that the United States would be “taxing” China until a trade deal is secured.

Trump has tweeted that the United States will impose a 10% additional tariffs on $300 billion of Chinese imports from September 1.

Trump also mentioned that the proposed tariffs could be increased in stages which could rise above 25%.

The development comes in the wake of U.S. and Chinese negotiators wrapping up a two-day meeting of trade negotiations in Shanghai without making significant headway in the trade war.
