French fiscal administration launches probe on Carlos Ghosn’s wealth

The former chairman of the Renault-Nissan alliance is facing charges of financial misconduct.

French daily Liberation has reported citing sources familiar with the matter at hand, France’s fiscal administration has launched an a probe into the wealth of Carlos Ghosn, former Chairman of the Renault-Nissan alliance.

Ghosn, who holds French, Lebanese and Brazilian citizenship, is facing charges of financial misconduct, which he has denied.

In April, he came out of jail having paid a bail amount of $4.5 million.

On June 4, in a statement Renault’s board stated, Ghosn had incurred suspect expenses when he chaired Renault and Nissan, amounting to nearly 11 million euros.

A notification on the investigation was sent to Ghosn and his wife.

Francois Zimeray, one of Ghosn’s lawyers, said he had not been informed.
