Brazil’s Petroleo Brasileiro SA receives $68.20M as part of Braskem’s plea agreement: securities filing

The total amount recovered by Brazil’s state-controlled oil company so far amounts to nearly 828 million reais, shows the securities filing.

According to a securities filing late on Monday, Brazil’s state-controlled oil company Petroleo Brasileiro SA disclosed, it has received $68.20 million (265 million reais) related to a plea deal signed by petrochemical producer Braskem SA to settle corruption charges.

Previously, Braskem had returned 564 million reais to Petrobras. The total amount recovered by the oil company so far amounts to nearly 828 million reais, according to a securities filing.

The state-oil company added the total amount received as part of leniency deals triggered by corruption investigations within the ‘Car Wash’ operation has now surpassed 3.5 billion reais.
