Will take “long hard look” at British operation in case of a cliff-hanger Brexit: Ford Motor

Ford builds only engines in the UK. It does not build any cars.

On Tuesday, U.S. carmaker Ford Motor stated, it would have to take a “long, hard look” at its British operations, including two of its engine factories, if Britain were to leave the European Union without a deal.

“If we were to get to a no-deal Brexit … then we would have to take another long, hard look at the operations that we have in the UK,” said Steven Armstrong, Ford’s Europe Chairman, to Sky News.

He went on to add, Ford is stocking engines in Europe and components in Britain. It is also bringing more vehicles into Britain – Ford’s third-largest global market.

While Ford builds 1.3 million engines in Britain it however does not build any vehicles.
