Lack of clarity in Brexit has significant consequences for airlines industry

The leadership challenge faced by British Prime Minister Theresa May will have serious consequences for Brexit, including its extension or cancellation.

Alexandre de Juniac, the head of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has stated, the leadership challenge to British Prime Minister Theresa May could be good news to the airlines industry if it were to lead to Brexit being cancelled or delayed.

“Brexit is not good news for this industry. We have always said that. So whatever would limit the Brexit consequences is good news for the aviation industry. We cannot be viewed as a strong supporter of closing borders and trade protectionism and being taken apart from globalization,” said Alexandre de Juniac.

May faces a a vote of no confidence in her leadership of Britain’s Conservative Party. She has made it lucidly clear that any new leader would either have to extend Brexit or cancel its March 29 deadline.
