GE in talks to divest its commercial lighting business to American Industrial Partners

Under CEO Larry Culp the conglomerate is continuing to divest assets from its businesses other than those from its core areas of renewable energy, jet engines and power plants.

General Electric is in talks with American Industrial Partners, a private equity firm, to sell its commercial lighting business, said a report from Bloomberg citing sources.

The potential deal could be announced as soon as later this week.

Under Larry Culp’s stewardship, GE is focused on divesting all of its business other than its core areas including renewable energy, jet engines and power plants.

GE declined to comment.

American Industrial Partners was not immediately available for comment.
