Fox-Disney deal set to be approved by U.S. antitrust regulators: source

The deal will still need to be approved by regulators from other countries.

As per a source familiar with the matter at hand, the U.S. Justice Department is set to provide antitrust approval for Walt Disney Co’s bid to acquire most of Twenty-First Century Fox Inc’s assets.

Earlier this month, Comcast Corp offered its bid of $65 billion to acquire Fox’s assets and lure it away from the Disney deal; its offer ignited a bidding war between two of the largest U.S. media companies in the U.S.

Incidentally, the Fox-Disney deal will still need regulatory approvals from other countries.

Disney and the Justice Department did not immediately respond to requests for comments.
