Although details of the reason(s) for the arrest has/have not yet been disclosed, one potential reason could be dieselgate.
On Monday, Audi’s spokesman disclosed that Rupert Stadler, its CEO, has been arrested.
“We confirm that Mr Stadler was arrested this morning. The hearing to determine whether he will be remanded is ongoing,” said Audi’s spokesman .
Volkswagen-owned Audi had no immediate comment.
Neither Stadler nor the Munich prosecutors were immediately available for comment.
