Yoshida, was the brains behind many of Sony’s strategic decisions, including its decision to focus on image sensors and smartphones, which have won over investors.

On Friday, Sony Corp stated Kenichiro Yoshida, its Chief Financial Officer, will replace Kazuo Hirai as the company’s CEO, with effect from April 1 2018.

Hirai, who became Sony’s CEO in 2012, will now become its chairman.
