South Korea seizes Hong Kong-flagged vessel for supplying oil to North Korean vessels at mid-sea

South Korean officials have seized the vessel Lighthouse Winmore which they say transferred oil to North Korean vessels at mid-sea.

An official from South Korea’s foreign ministry stated it has seized a Hong Kong flagged vessel suspected of transferring oil to North Korea in violation of U.N sanctions.

The seized vessel, Lighthouse Winmore, transferred refined petroleum products to a North Korean ship in international waters in late October, said the official.

The U.S. has proposed to blacklist the Hong Kong-flagged ship to the U.N. Security Council for circumventing sanctions that have been clamped on North Korea for its pursuit of nuclear weapons and missile programs.
