Since the Dubai-based budget carrier current fleet of aircrafts are all from Boeing, in the event of flydubai ordering more jets, it is likely it will opt for Boeing’s aircrafts. Media reports had earlier said Airbus and Boeing were in the fray for its orders.
Sources familiar with the matter at hand have disclosed, flydubai, a Dubai-based budget carrier, is nearing the placement of an order for 178 Boeing 737 MAX jets.
Flydubai is scheduled to hold a news conference at the Dubai Airshow at 1200 UAE time (0800 GMT).
Boeing and flydubai declined to comment.
On Sunday, there had been media reports of Emirates and flydubai, both owned by the government of Dubai, have been in contact with Airbus and Boeing for potential new orders of up to 175 passenger jets.
Flydubai’s current fleet of jets are all from Boeing.
