Envoys from South Korea and China meet to discuss threats posed by North Korea

South Korea, China and Japan have high stakes if the North Korean threat goes north. The economic and humanitarian costs of a confrontation will be significant, especially for South Korea.

Officials from South Korea’s foreign ministry are set to meet their counterpart in Beijing this Tuesday for discussions on nuclear talks.

The meeting is an extension of recent meetings between the nuclear envoys from United States, Japan and South Korea, said South Korea’s foreign ministry in a statement.

This meeting assumes significance since the officials will discourse on the current situation revolving around North Korea’s nuclear missile program.

The discussions are aimed at finding a stable way at managing threats posed by North Korea.
