The ECB is likely to launch ownership control procedures for 2 of the top Deutsche Bank’s share holders

The fact that the Europe’s central bank is considering to investigate China’s & Qatar’s holdings is telling.

As per a regulatory source within Europe’s top banking regulator, the bloc’s central bank is considering carrying out a review of Deutsche Bank’s two largest shareholders.

The European Central Bank may launch ownership control procedures to scrutinize the holdings of China’s HNA and Qatar’s royal family, both of who own just below 10% of Deutsche Bank’s shares.

“That the ECB is investigating or considering to investigate the shareholdings is indeed accurate,” said the source on condition of anonymity.

China’s HNA, Deutsche Bank, and the ECB have declined comment.
