South Australia has shutdown polluting coal-based power plants and has instead embraced renewable energy sources.

In a significant development, Tesla has been picked by South Australia to install a grid-scale battery which is to be paired with France’s Neoen wind farm.

Faced with a crippling power shortage, South Australia is racing ahead of the rest of the country to generate power from renewable energy sources, triggering a shutdown of coal-fired power plants.

Dozens of companies across 10 countries have expressed interest in the South Australian project.
