An association of travel agents along with the British airlines industry have highlighted their requirements and the need for a transitional deal.
An association of travel agents in Britain have stated that during Brexit negotiations Theresa May’s government should aim to secure visa-free travel between the European Union and the UK while adding that transitional deal was the need of the hour, for the sector.
Weighing in, the airlines industry in Britain has also demanded its requirements be prioritized in the forthcoming negotiations to ensure no disruption of flights during the negotiations which have a term of two years.
As per the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), the maintenance of visa-free travel between the EU and UK following Brexit, is, among others, a key priority.
Among its other demands is the right of British citizens to travel freely to Europe and beyond and safeguard their consumer rights. It also aims to stabilise and safeguard the growth opportunities for British businesses.
“Travel and tourism is one of the UK’s largest industries and it is vital that the Government makes sure it can continue to thrive during and after the negotiations,” said Mark Tanzer, Chief Executive of ABTA.
The trade body has also called for a transitional arrangement, since consumers typically book holidays one and half years in advance.
