Registered as a medical research company, Neuralink is currently hiring academics who are experts in this field.
The Wall Street Journal has reported citing sources familiar with the matter at hand, that Elon Musk, Tesla’s and SpaceX’s co-founder has launched Neuralink Corp, a company which will develop technology to link a human’s brain to that of a machine.
Neuralink is pursuing a technology to interface the human brain to computers. Musk calls has termed the technology as “neural lace”.
By implanting tiny brain electrodes through the neural lace, Musk aims to one day upload and download thoughts to your computer, said the WSJ.
Although Neuralink has been registered as a “medical research” in California last July, Musk has yet to make an official announcement. As per a person briefed with knowledge of the plans, the company will be funded mostly by himself.
Although it is as yet unclear as to what products Neuralink might create, but people familiar with the discussions at hand state, Neuralink is likely to adopt a similar strategy to that of Tesla and SpaceX.
In recent weeks, Neuralink has been hiring leading academics in the field, reported WSJ.
