This development appears is in line with Tesla’s overall strategy of producing Superchargers for its vehicles, PowerWalls for homes and now next-gen solar PV cells.
Tesla Motors and Panasonic Corp have disclosed that they will co-produce photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules at a factory in Buffalo, New York.
In a joint statement, both companies have said they plan on starting the production of PV modules in the summer of 2017.
Furthermore, their joint production of modules is set to increase to 1 gigawatt by 2019.
This disclosure is part of their strategic partnership both companies had announced in October 2016.
