On Wednesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, if Western nations were to send peacekeepers to Ukraine, it could potentially lead to a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia.

Last week, Poland said an international peacekeeping mission should be sent to Ukraine and be given the means to defend itself.
