Toyota Motor Corp suspends production at 5 domestic plants from January citing supply chain issues

On Monday, in a statement Toyota Motor Corp said, it will suspend production at five domestic factories in January 2022 following chip shortages and the outbreak of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

The suspension of production will impact around 20,000 vehicles, but will not impact its annual target to manufacture 9 million vehicles.

Last week, Toyota said it was projecting a bigger reduction in vehicle production in North America in January to 50,000 units because of supply chain issues.
