Michael Linhart, Austria’s ambassador to France, has been appointed as the country’s foreign minister. He will succeed Alexander Schallenberg, who has been designated to become Austrian chancellor, as per a statement released on Monday.
Linhart, a career diplomat who served as foreign policy adviser to the chancellor, Wolfgang Schuessel, is slated to be sworn in at the same ceremony as Schallenberg later today at 1 p.m. (1100 GMT), as per an official statement.
