Lockheed Martin Corp in discussions with US over production targets and deliveries over F-35 fighter jets

In a statement Lockheed Martin Corp said, it is in discussions with the US government over F-35 fighter jets production rate and deliveries for 2022. The defense giant aims to produce 169 F-35 fighter aircraft in 2022.

“While initial discussions indicated 169 aircraft in 2022, we will provide a production range when finalized,” said Lockheed Martin.

The U.S. government is Lockheed’s biggest customer, accounting for three quarters of its sales in 2020.

Earlier this week, the weapons maker provided an estimate of its F-35 production plans during a conference hosted by brokerage Bernstein.

It expects to deliver between 133 and 139 jets in 2021 and expects the production rate for the F-135 to plateau at around 175 aircraft per year.
