According to a source familiar with the matter at hand, Amazon.com Inc is negotiating the potential acquisition of iconic U.S. movie studio MGM.
The status of Amazon’s discussions with MGM is so unclear and it is possible that they may not result in a deal.
MGM is the movie studio behind the “James Bond” franchise, and makes TV serials, including Vikings, Shark Tank, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Fargo.
Amazon declined to comment on the report, saying it “doesn’t comment on rumors or speculation”.
According to media report, MGM was exploring a sale in December 2020 and had tapped investment banks Morgan Stanley and LionTree LLC and had started a formal sale process.
