In a statement, EBay Inc said, it has started a process to explore a range of strategic alternatives for its South Korean business, including Gmarket – one of the largest online marketplaces in the country.

In a report, Seoul-based Korea Economic Daily said, EBay is looking at options which includes potential sale of its South Korean unit, in a deal that could fetch around $5 billion.
