Clarity on U.S. Policy will emerge in spring: German, Economy Minister Peter Altmaier

On Monday, Germany’s Economy Minister Peter Altmaier told German broadcaster Deutschlandfunk, in his assessment uncertainty in the United States is likely to continue for months and clarity would emerge only in spring regarding the direction U.S. policy would take.

His comments come in the wake of U.S. President Donald Trump’s allegation that the 2020 U.S. Presidential elections had elements of fraudulent votes and on Saturday he had pledged to go ahead with a legal strategy based on which he hopes to overturn state voting results that have gave Democrat Joe Biden a win.

When asked on whether trade wars would end under the Biden Presidency, Altmaier said he expect to see a return towards a stronger multilateralism.

He went on to add, Biden’s plan to return to the Paris climate agreement was important.
