Britain to test COVID-19 status of international tourists from November 2020

According to a report from The Guardian, the UK government will set up a global travel taskforce and defer an anticipated plan to introduce COVID-19 testing for international arrivals until November.

The setting up of the taskforce came about on the request of Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday. It will be jointly chaired by transport minister Grant Shapps and health minister Matt Hancock.

In September 2020, Airlines including EasyJet and British Airways urged the British government to introduce coronavirus testing as an alternative to quarantine by the end of the month, in what they described as a “last chance” to save the industry.
