In a letter to employees, Elise Eberwein, the executive vice president of people and global engagement stated, American Airlines Group Inc will have to cut its management and support staff by around 30% as a fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

To begin with, American will offer voluntary options to employees and will then go ahead with involuntary reductions if there is insufficient take-up said Eberwein.

United Airlines Holdings Inc also stated, it will be trimming its management and administrative employees by around 30% once U.S. government payroll aid expires in the fall.
