Will compensate drivers & delivery people diagnosed with coronavirus: Uber Technologies

In a statement, Uber Technologies Inc said, it will offer compensation to drivers and delivery people who have either been diagnosed with the coronavirus or have been placed in quarantine for up to 14 days.

Uber has already begun compensating drivers in some markets and is planning on implementing theese policies worldwide, said Uber.

Incidentally, Uber has repeatedly stressed that it classifies its drivers as contractors. If it were to classify them as employees, companies such as Uber, including DoorDash and Postmates Inc would have to comply with labor laws which require higher pay and other benefits, including medical insurance.
